Come my friends, 'tis not too late to seek a newer world.quotes
Lord Alfred Tennyson, 1842

When you're not sure what's required...

Sometimes it's just not clear precisely what is required - particularly if a number of people are involved.  Mediation? Facilitation? Team development?  Formal action...?  The list goes on.

And sometimes, people don't want to commit themselves to a specific process - particularly if it's something they're not familiar with.  Mediation is still a relatively new kid on the block and few people have experienced how effective and helpful it can be. Scepticism about mediation is still alive and well and living in most organisations.

That's where some initial exploratory work may be helpful.  An experienced conflict specialist can meet with people individually or in groups to explore together what the key issues are and to identify possible ways to address them - which may include mediation, but may well not if it doesn't seem to be the appropriate process.

If you think this approach might be useful in the situation you have in mind, give us a ring and we can talk through whether some exploratory work would be appropriate.
