This
6-day programme covers all aspects of the learning required
to start practising as a workplace mediator. Successful participants
will gain up to 6 Open College Network credits at level 3
and receive Mediation at Work's "Certificate in Workplace
Mediation." The programme includes 40 hours of contact
time and around 12 hours of private study time.
By
the end of the programme, participants should be appropriately
competent to:
Undertake initial meetings with each party; help the parties
explore and clarify the issues and feelings involved; and
consider mediation as an option in resolving their difficulties.
Conduct workplace mediation meetings to assist the parties
in building workable agreements about future conduct, and/or
developing increased mutual understanding of their working
relationship.
Interact constructively, and without discrimination, with
a diverse spectrum of disputants within an organisation
at all levels, including in emotionally charged situations.
Manage their own reactions to conflict and their feelings,
assumptions, and prejudices.
Systematically evaluate their own work and co-mediators'
work, as a part of a commitment to ongoing learning development,
and to ensuring quality standards.
Additionally,
participants will have had the opportunity to develop skills
and techniques that will have applications in all aspects
of their work.
Two
trainers will work with the group throughout the programme
and the maximum group size is 12 to ensure time for skill
development and feedback from the trainers. Both trainers
are practising mediators with experience of leading this programme
in a variety of settings.
Currently
we do not have plans to run an open programme. However,
if you would be interested in being contacted when the next
open programme is being planned, please let us know.
