Managing Conflict at Work - conflict resolution skills for managers

Conflict is present to varying degrees in all situations where people come together – and organisations are no exception. Conflict itself is neutral - it is how we respond to conflict that determines whether it is constructive or destructive.

This course will enable managers to develop key skills in handling disputes at work – both conflicts in which they are a party and conflicts between people they manage.

Specific outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be better able to:

understand and manage their own responses to conflict
identify where conflict is becoming a problem
choose an appropriate method of dealing with different conflicts
use conflict resolution techniques in their own work as managers
help others within the organisation to handle conflict more effectively.

During the course, participants will:

consider the nature of conflict
identify the differences between the role of manager and mediator
practise and develop some key conflict resolution skills
identify how their own organisation handles conflict at work
prepare to manage a real work conflict situation.

This open programme is available as an in-house programme suited to the particular needs of your organisation.
